The works of artist Marta Palmieri (1973) are visually reminiscent of recipients, excavation finds, silkworm cocoons, and draw inspiration from multiple cultural sources, from past civilisations, to post-war Brutalist architecture, to the Arte Povera of the 1960s and 1970s.
The artist’s imprints imprinted in the fragile clay skin reveal the slow columbine working, while the outer epidermis, abraded with the spatula, absorbs marks given like caresses.
Palmieri has received numerous prizes and scholarships and his works have been exhibited throughout Italy and internationally. His sculptures can be found in many private and public collections.
